Odysseus vs The Cyclops

Odysseus vs The Cyclops

After the siege of Troy, Odysseus embarks on a long journey to return to his homeland. During his journey, he is thrown off course and lands on a mysterious island. One of the fiercest monsters in the entire ancient world lives there: a giant Cyclops. The Cyclops takes Odysseus and his men captive. He even begins to devour Odysseus’s crew. But Odysseus plots a way to overpower the beast. One night, Odysseus brings the Cyclops wine and gets him drunk. Odysseus then takes a wooden beam and, with the help of four of his crewmen, drives it into the Cyclops’s eye. Odysseus and his men then make it safely off the island. To add insult to injury, however, Odysseus had told the Cyclops that his name was Noman. Thus, when the Cyclops’s friends asked him, “Tell us, who has done this terrible thing to you?”, he responded, “Noman! Noman has done this to me!”
