A Cyclopes Civilization?
Did the Cyclopes of Homers Odyssey have a civilization? No they did not. Homer describes them as lawless and inhuman. Furthermore they had no kind of agriculture. Homer says this about their agriculture:
“Now the Cyclopes neither plant nor plough, but trust in providence, and live on such wheat, barley, and grapes as grow wild without any kind of tillage, and their wild grapes yield them wine as the sun and the rain may grow them.”
Also they lived alone in caves on the peeks of mountains. They had no laws or any assemblies of any kind. Every Cyclops made his own laws or rules according to his own fancy. They hardly ever bothered themselves with the affairs of their neighbors. I am certainly glad creatures like this are not living today.
